Geoglossum cookeianum Nannfeldt Fruit body 3–7cm high, 0.5–1cm wide, black, smooth, flattened club-shaped tapering into the narrower stalk. Asci 180×20µ. Paraphyses elongated terminally in a short chain of almost globose to barrel-shaped segments up to 8µ wide. Spores brown, subcylindric, seven-septate, 50–90×5–7µ. Habitat in grassland especially on sandy soils. Season autumn. Occasional. Not edible. Found In Europe.
